Bicycle Buying Guide

Bicycle Buying Guide

The Basics: Bicycles

Thinking of buying a new bike? If you haven't set foot inside a bike store recently, you'll be amazed at how much has changed in the last few years. Fully suspended bikes are now commonplace, drivetrains and braking systems are more sophisticated than ever, and bikes have features and parts that you couldn't have found on a bike of any price just a few short years ago.

Two of the biggest emerging trends are the re-emergence of the road bike, in various forms, and the surge in women's specific bikes. Women's bikes feature parts and frame sizing specifically fitted to a woman's proportions. Women have proportionately smaller hands, longer legs, and shorter torsos than men, in general. They don't weigh as much and derive more of their pedaling ability from aerobic ability (endurance) rather than strength.

Women's bikes feature parts fitted to a woman's dimensions, and some nicer models feature women's-specific suspension forks with lighter compression. A central feature of the new women's bikes are women's seats, which you'll likely find much more comfortable than those available just a few years ago.

The road bike is also back, and a new form is the flat-bar road bike. A flat-bar road bike is a fast, efficient ride made for enthusiasts, but the mountain-bike-style flat handlebar is a more comfortable position for many riders.

Other trends include better suspension at all price levels, a new influx of inexpensive but excellent disc brakes, and better frame materials, including various exotic combinations, such as aluminum and carbon fiber.

When you think about buying a bike, consider what you'll use it for: A road enthusiast who is interested in long tours will appreciate the efficient, fast rolling road bike; if you want to try the dirt a little bit, consider a hardtail mountain bike or hybrid. And if the off-road is your real calling, strongly consider a full-suspension mountain bike.

How to Shop

Identify your use and your price range. Visit a number of stores that carry different brands to get a feel for what's out there. The shop should narrow your options quickly to no fewer than three models.

Test ride if you can. It's the best way to find out if the bike fits you well and if you like the feel of the controls, the suspension, and its handling. Put a bike through its paces as much as you can on a test ride. Ride it up a hill hard, slalom along a twisty bike path. Brake hard. Shift through the entire gear range to see if there are problems with the adjustment.

At the shop, look for signs of good (or bad) build quality. Brake pads should squarely contact the rim and not squeal during braking. Shifting should be smooth and crisp. There shouldn't be any clunks or rattling noises. Tires should be properly inflated. Shifter and brake cable ends should be neatly cut and capped. These are signs you are in a good shop.

It will be hard to haggle on the price, because many shops don't make a good margin on bikes; service and accessories are where they have more room to bargain. Ask about discounts on accessories - most shops will give a margin discount on extras bought the same day as the bike. Inquire about the bike's service plan - what's included, what's extra? Get the service plan in writing.

If you're interested in learning more about how to work on your own bike, ask about classes the shop offers. Ask about anything of which you are unsure. If the salespeople don't answer sincerely and completely or if they give you a hard time, take your business elsewhere; just like car dealers, there's usually more than one shop in your area carrying a particular brand.

If a bike is close but not perfect for example, the stem is too long or you don't like the seat - ask the shop about swapping it. Most shops have a good policy about these kinds of changes, which can make the difference between a customer walking out with the bike or not.

Doing a cleanse with Oxypowder

The following is intended as a guide only, and is based on personal experience, as well as feedback from our customers. If you are still unsure how to take Oxy-Powder after reading the Oxyhealth guide below, then please see the links at the bottom of the page. The Initial CleanseThe Oxypowder capsules, once taken, will liquidize the contents of your upper and lower colon, as well as start to work on any compaction that is present. The capsules are best taken nightly, before bed, as to give the capsules the benefit of a slow passage through the colon. This way, the slow release capsules can have a better chance of working on the compaction, and should have finished their job by the time you wake.Remember that Oxypowder is not the same as a laxative. You will not lose any control over your bowels, or have the jittery side effects that laxatives can bring on. Once you have visited the toilet in the morning , you can go about your normal day, be it work or other activities, and when you need the toilet, it will be the same feeling as any other time. We would however recommend you try Oxypowder for the first time over a weekend, to familiarize yourself with how the product works, and how many toilet visits you need. The instructions on the bottle state that you should start off slowly, on 1 capsule, and then as needed increase this until you are having 3 5 bowel movements a day. The usual dosage for most people is around 4 - 6 capsules, although your weight, size, compaction, acidity in the stomach etc can all have added effects that may need you to increase of decrease this amount. The easiest way to determine your serving amount of capsules for a cleanse is to judge for yourself how you feel your bowel movement went. The idea is for the bowel movement to be almost pure liquid. It should almost be like passing water. If the contents of your movement are still semi-solid, then this is when you should increase the dosage by 2 capsules. Once the movement is a watery liquid, then this is your dosage for the 7 day cleanse. Your 7 day cleanse only starts after the 1st day where you are passing liquid. Any days previous to this where your movements are semi solid do not count. You may find you need to designate a little longer for your morning toilet visit. This way, you will eliminate the need to make a few frequent visits within the first hour of waking. Because the contents of your colon have been turned to gas and liquid, there will occasionally be airlocks that form in your colon (similar to your Central Heating, but without the little tap to help!!). By spending a little longer at the toilet after your first movement, you will give your bowels a chance to move the airlock, and allow more liquid to pass. It may also help to stretch upwards whilst being seated, which can also help release any airlocks that may be present. You will find that your first bowel movement is the biggest, releasing nearly all your colon contents. After this , you will perhaps go 2 or 3 times during the day, but these will be much less, especially if you have taken our advise to remain on the toilet a little longer for the first visit of the day.Remember to drink plenty of water to help flush your colon and keep you hydrated during the cleanse. It is also worth noting that the Oxypowder can only liquify the compaction in your colon once it has liquefied the food that is present from your daily meals. Having a colon full of hard to digest food will hinder the Oxypowder's effectiveness, as it needs to break down all the food matter before getting onto the compaction. Our advice is to eat sensible foods that are easy to digest during the 7 day cleanse, and avoid things like red meats, pasta, bread etc that may hinder the cleansing process. We don't mean you should starve yourself, or eat like a rabbit, but eating sensibly and being aware of what you are trying to achieve will help you get the best results from the cleanse.MaintenanceOnce you have completed the 7 day cleanse, you will want to drop onto the maintenance programme. The bottle states that this is the same dosage that you were taking for the 7 day cleanse, and should be taken every other day. We have found that in order for things to slowly firm up again, and become less liquid, you may need to reduce your maintenance dose gradually, by taking 1 less capsule every other day, until you are having soft solid bowel movements. Once you have achieved this, you should remain on this dosage. I.e. If you were taking 6 capsules per day for the 7 day cleanse, you would take this amount every other day for your maintenance dose. You may then need to reduce this to 5 capsules every other day and then 4 capsules every other day etc in order to start passing soft bowel movement. The idea with the maintenance programme is to keep your cleansed colon in the same shape it is now in, by cleansing it every other day and keeping things running smoothly, rather than slowly build up to how it was before. The maintenance dose is really up to you. You can either use some capsules every other day , or just use a couple every day to keep things moving. Some people dont actaully do the maintenance programme, and simply do the cleanse every month or so, as they find this easier to manage. The electronic cigarette

Beat the ban, quit without quitting or cut down and stop with ease, now you do have the choice!

It's not often a cynic like me really puts their heart and soul into a product, but once I tried these, I knew I was onto a winner!

Why?? Well, to put it simply, it's the only product that I feel really works, it's working for me and seeing the benefits, even my own Parents have said goodbye to smelly unhealthy tobacco and are on their very own personal quit program, that's the thing I like the best, it's easy and you are in control.

You can decide yourself how to quit, or maybe not, you could be happy to enjoy your new cleaner smoking gadget without all the risks from conventional smoking, you really can't loose!

I never thought they'd be so good, just open a cartridge and fix it to the atomiser and screw on your charged battery, the atomiser turns the liquid nicotine into a pure vapour, as you inhale it goes directly to your lungs, it feels just like a conventional smoke and you don't suffer cravings or irritability, at all!

I'm saving a small fortune already, and when I feel the time is right, I can choose a lower dose cartridge and slowly work down to none at all!

There are various strengths available, various flavours too and now they even come in different colours, they'd make fun, funky and thoughtful gifts for loved ones.

The other bonus is, you can smoke them anywhere, as they do not give off any smoke at all, just a harmless vapour, no more standing outside in the wind and rain, these are legal to smoke everywhere.

At work, while travelling, pubs clubs and public buildings, anywhere at all. It's fully legal, no longer feel like a social outcast!

As with any nicotine product these are not suitable for Children or for Pregnant Women, and as with anything of this nature it's wise to consult your doctor if you have any health issues that may be affected by Nicotine.

I suffer Raynauds Syndrome, I took this little gadget to my own GP and she was quite impressed, she agreed the benefits are fantastic, no sticky tar to clog up my lungs, and without the tobacco I am hoping my circulation improves too.

I already feel healthier, less breathless and happier in myself, the cartridges are also much much cheaper than my old 30 a day habit, I am currently using 2-3 cartridges a day... much much better all round than 30 cigarettes!!

I've tried patches, gum, inhalators and will power, none of them worked.

This is the first time I feel I really can say goodbye to tobacco forever!

Fake Taylor Made Burner

High quality fake incl. HeadCcoverLooks like TM, feels Like TM, but first drive and you can clearly hear the fake sound From personal experience (Im waiting for my refund as I bought one) be aware of fake taylormade R7 superquad drivers offered for auction. Pitched with tempting buy it now or best offer prices, these clubs are very decent copies which can fool the unknowing. Often the seller does not use Paypal and insists on using NOCHEX or bank transfer. Ask the seller to email you the serial number on the hosel and you can then email Taylormade customer services to find out if it is a genuine club before committing any money. But if the price is too good to be true, it will more often than not be the price of a fake. Look for the blue handled wrench ( authentic wrenches are yellow or silver) along with theall black headcover (R7 superquads have big distinctive yellow patches on the headcover).

Glass Fusing with nichrome wire

Nichrome wire is a high-temperature wire which is perfect for using with fused glass as it will remain intact at temperatures up to approximately1700 degrees Fahrenheit. By using your hands and/or jewellers pliers, high-temperature wire can easily be formed into any shape and secured in place with glass fusing glue in between the layers of glass and fired in the kiln in order to create mini-cabochons suitable for jewellery designs. You can also assemble your creation directly on your kiln shelf if you have steady hands and position the wire in between the layers of glass thereby avoiding the gluing process

As the glass begins to slump in the kiln, the wire will become permanently encased between the layers of glass. After the firing is complete, the nichrome wire will appear somewhat discolored and dull, and you can give it a gentle buffing with some steel wool to quickly restore the luster. The projecting outer end of the wire can then be used to attach the fused glass piece to a jewellery finding

Avoiding fake / counterfeit Game Boy Advance cartridges

PrologueThere are throngs of fake Game Boy Advance game cartridges offered on eBay more fake than original. And eBay doesn't have resources to filter all the fakes. Therefore you have to be sharp-eyed to protect yourself from stealing.I've been "hunting" for some Game Boy Advance games in the recent year,
checking the best offers several times a week. I've seen a lot of
cartridges (won some fakes...), and I would like to share my experiences with you for you
to be able to discern and make favourable deals. Some IntroductionAs
Game Boy Advance is region free, you can play games from all regions on
your great handheld console. You may long for originality, thus like to
play a game in Japanese, or you can get your favourite game from
another region cheaper.Counterfeit games are bad, by them
software pirates are stealing from you on the one hand and stealing
from the game's developer and publisher on the other hand. 1.
Stealing from you, because you expect, that you will get all the
benefits what the developer and the publisher of the game planned
thoroughly and carefully to give to the customer, and satisfy him/her, e.g. nice appearance and finish, and flawless operation after all.

YANKEE CANDLE SECRETS - Burning Tips

I have been emailed time and again to ask, why is my candle burning slightly lopsided?

The simple and straight forward answer is, you are not trimming your wick!

To acheive the best from your Yankee Candle you need to keep the wick trimmed to roughly 1/4 inch, if your wick is to long you will create a channelling running through the candle and the sides are still filled with wax. Once this happens their is nothing you can do to prevent wasting half your candle, this is because the flame is to high and is burning through the wax quickly. If your wick is kept at 1/4" you will create a nice staedy burn time enabling your whole candle to burn away evenly.

Always take care when trimming your wick...

Thanks

How to get Best Performance out of your Mobile Battery?

Initial chargeWhen your new mobile phone battery is delivered, the battery will not be fully charged. We recommend you to charge the battery for at least 16-24 hours continuously, or for even longer. You are well advised to do this for the second charge as well.Yes, this is very frustrating, and will stop you trying your new purchase out, but if you do follow the instructions. It can make a huge difference to the performance you'll get from the battery in the future. Note that the phone will indicate that the battery is fully charged after an hour or two, but for the initial charge, you should ignore this. Why is this necessary?A battery is made of several cells wired in series. Although good quality batteries are made with matched cells, there will be some variation between the cells in any battery. When you charge the battery, some of the cells will be fully charged first. The charge current has to pass through all of the cells, and you have to be sure that the trickle-charging completely fills every cell, even though some of the cells are "full" and therefore the charger control circuits are cutting back the charge current. The way to ensure this is to leave the battery on charge for a long, long time for the first couple of charges.Battery CareTo work, your mobile phone depends on its battery, in turn making you depend on your mobile phones battery, so it makes sense to take look after it. So before going into detail about making it last, lets look at the basics of battery care. Most mobile phones use one of the following battery types:1. Nickel Cadmium or NiCd.2. Nickel Metal Hydride or NiMh.3. Lithium Ion or Li-Ion.Each of these batteries should be treated a different way when charging, but the first charge after you have unboxed your new phone is the same and, arguably, the most important. Even though you want to use your phone, you should resist temptation and charge it first for around 12 hours or overnight to ensure the battery is at its peak. Then, if you are really conscientious, do the same for the second charge too. Oh, and ignore the fact the phone will say its charged after a couple of hours, as it will continue to trickle charge until you unplug it. Once you have done this, you can begin a normal charging routine depending on your battery type.If you have a NiCd battery, it should be discharged, when the phone switches itself off, every other charge cycle before its recharged; so top it up once, then do it properly. For a NiMh your can top it up a few more times between charges, so perhaps aim for a full discharge/charge cycle once a week. Li-Ion batteries shouldnt really be totally discharged at all; instead they can be topped up when low, with a full cycle every month. Getting into a charging routine with your battery will make it last longer for longer and while it may sound a complete pain, as with any routine once you start doing it, itll become second nature. So, now that you and your battery understand each other completely, youre ready for the next stage in your relationship together! Here are twelve ways to get the most out of your charge:Tip 1: Turn Your Phone Off. It may sound obvious, but a lot of people leave their phone switched on over night and either never receive a call or have any intention of answering it if they get one! If this is you, and you dont need to have the phone on at night then dont, this will extend the standby of your phone considerably and in some cases, actually do the phone some good, as some models need downtime to clear memory and perform other shutdown tasks. Tip 2: Display Backlights and Brightness. All phones have a backlight to illuminate the display, which while essential, doesnt have to be as bright as the sun. Check your phone manual to see if your can change the length of time the backlight stays on for, or change the level of illumination, as shortening the time and dropping the brightness several notches will be beneficial to your battery life.Tip 3: Ringtones and Vibration. Most phones have definable profiles which allow you to change how your phone operates according to your situation one part being the way your phone alerts you to a call. The simplest is to set it to Normal and let it ring and vibrate away regardless, but as is often the case, the simplest route is not the best, as loud ringtones and the vibrate feature also consume your battery at a higher rate. So, if the phone is not in your pocket, turn the vibrate off, if you can see the phone, turn the ring down to the lowest volume or even off completely; just set-up and use different profiles to your own preference!Tip 4: 3G. While 3G offers excellent connectivity speeds, its a power-hungry little beast too, so if you dont need 3G enabled all the time and your phone gives you the option, just switch to GSM 2G. This alone can add another 50% to your phones standby time!Tip 5: Wi-Fi, GPRS and Bluetooth. If your phone can connect to a Wi-Fi network, it may also have the option to continually search for one to connect to. If it has, ensure that its switched off. The same goes for Bluetooth, which can be set to search for active devices all the time. By having both these features inactive until you need them will extend your batterys life. Having GPRS active all the time also adds further strain to the battery, so if you can disconnect each time you finish, you will be rewarded with some more standby.Tip 6: Multi-tasking. Youve been listening to music, playing a game or watching a video on your phone and a call comes in. At the end you push the Call End button and go off and do other things, while any previous running applications continue happily in the background, tucking into your batterys precious power. No longer purely applicable to smartphones, some standard phones can have several applications running at the same time too, so always remember to close down functions you are no longer using. Tip 7: Animations and Screensavers.Lovely as they may be, anything that does stuff when youre not using the phone will eat the battery at a faster rate than doing nothing at all. So, you may love your LG Pradas fish darting about the screen, but if you want your battery to last longer; hes got to go. Tip 8: Battery Saver. Some phones have a Battery Saver or Power Save option hidden in their menu system, which when activated, shuts down any non-essential features after a preset amount of time has elapsed since the phone was last used. With this turned on, it may also change the backlight and brightness too, so if you cant find any individual adjustments for those features, but can find a Battery Saver feature, give it a try. On older phones a battery save option could also mean that during a call you would lose the duplex function, but this shouldnt be the case today. Tip 9: Signal. Although largely out of the individual users control, your phones signal strength greatly affects standby time. If your phone is out of service, or has a very weak or intermittent signal, its forever trying to establish a new or better one, meaning its using lots more power than if the signal is at full strength. One option is to switch off your phone when you know there is no reception, but if the signal at your home is bad and the phone needs to be active, consider purchasing a signal booster box to give it a helping hand. Not only will your battery thank you, but everyone who calls will too!Tip 10: Do nothing. The most effective way to make your battery last longest is to quite simply leave it alone. Accept and make calls, but keep them short, send SMS messages, but not MMS and dont play games, take pictures, listen to music or radio, browse the Internet, download mail or use GPS to find your way. Harsh, we know, and obviously not very practical but if you want to be master of your phones battery, itll take dedication and a strong will.Tip 11: A Spare Battery. A spare battery can be helpful and will certainly overcome the dying phone/important call problem. Just remember, batteries dont like to sit about and do nothing, and a partially discharged battery which isnt used for months will be next to useless when its finally called into duty, so try to alternate between your batteries, ensuring theyre both used regularly.Tip 12: Dead Batteries. If you have applied all of the above tips to extend the standby time of your battery and still struggle to get anything approaching what the manual says you should get, then you may have to face the fact your battery is dead or dying. Modern phone batteries, when treated well, should last around two years before they require replacement, but if they have been abused, exposed to high-levels of heat or if its a Li-Ion, totally discharged, their lives may be cut short.By following as many of these tips as possible, you, youre phone and its battery will have a long and happy relationship.Disclaimer: These instructions are provided as best practice guide only. You are not obligated to follow these should you make purchase, however if you do choose to follow, then please do so at your own responsibility. Camper Day Van Motorhome Helpful Tips

Day Van These are large MPV like vehicles that you can sleep in, may have a cooker and/or sink. They were not intended for long camping trips.CamperTypically when you hear this word, you think of the VW camper, but some people also use this to describe van conversions. The original VW camper was designed for camping trips, it has beds, cooker, kitchen sink and limited storage.Motorhome

A motorhome should at minimum contain beds, cooker, kitchen sink, toilet and a shower. They should really contain everything you need to go to a remote site and live indepentantly, like a fresh water tank, a waste water tank, mains pickup lead. Motorhomes come in different sizes and have names / classes based on there design.Check your driving licence, if you passed your driving test after 1997, you may not be able to drive the larger motorhomes.Check the unladen weight of larger motorhomes, if its greater than 7.5 tonnes, you may need a HGV licence.

A Class An A Class or Coach Built is a purpose designed Motorhome. A long time ago, they were vans with caravan conversions, today they are very sophisticated, see Hymer Pilote Tabbert

C Class A C Class or Cab Class is a rolling chassis conversion, basically the manufacturer takes a common van platform and adds the body to a rolling chassis

Motorhome Insurance

There are a lot of insurers, you can limit mileage and agreed value to keep the premiums down.Beware that self conversions may not be insurable, check before you buy. Some people end up just insuring the van alone.

Motorhome Inspection Not an easy subject. If you buy from a dealers' forecourt, they will give you a condition report, otherwise you can get the motoring organisations to inspect for you, some dealers will inspect a third party vehicle for a fee. If all of that is too expensive, get a mechanic to check the mechanical side as you would a car, then get the seller to demonstrate everything. Look in the interior corners and at the back of cupboards for discolouration or damp. Look in the bottom of cupboards at the carpet/floor.Look at the trim at the corners of the bumpers for scuff damage. Run showers for 5 minutes and check they continue to run hot. Check that the fridge works on 12v and Gas and Mains. Check for waste water leaks. Check for any smells of Gas, to get this fixed go to a Gas certified dealer.Light every burner and check it burns blue.If there is a heater, check it works, after you buy get it checked by a Gas certified dealer.Check the interior lights work and what battery they are connected to.If there is a switch / fuse panel, get an explanation and demonstration of everything.Check that there is a spare wheel and the tools/jack to change it.Ask where the leisure battery is and how it is charged.

FeedbackI will add / improve this if you send me comments, otherwise ...............

Bad Buyers With Good Feedback - Sellers Snookered!

This guide is written to warn sellers of the growing problem of BAD buyers with GOOD feedback!

This problem has come about because of the changes that ebay have made to the feedback system.

When an item is sold to a Buyer there is now NO OPTION of leaving Neutral or Negative feedback for the buyer.

There is ONLY the option to leave Positive feedback!

Obviously, this means that even if a buyer gives you no communication, ignores all your emails and messages, and only pays at the last moment, without so much as a 'sorry for the inconvenience'(and In order for you to stop having the "You need to leave feedback" popping up every two minutes) you HAVE to leave Positive feedback - Sometimes forterrible buyers! (You could try leavingnone at all, but it is not recommended for your sanity)

I have had a few that I had to mention 'Non-Paying Bidder Alert' to to get them to pay up... Then I had to leave Positive feedback for them!

So, what can we do?

There's only one way to work within the framework we're given by ebay, and that is to wirte the facts in the positive feedback comment box and hope that other sellers note this when they have a bid from the person and remove the bid - And possibly block the buyer from bidding on their future auctions.

This is against the rules of feedback - So how does it work?

While it stands it makes its point - If it gets removed the bad seller loses their star - great result either way - This way you have not left good feedback for a lousy seller!

Recently Ihad to leavethe comments "Paid Eventually" or "Thank you for your last minute payment!" or how about "I'm not able to give NEGATIVE FEEDBACK - I would have if I could have!" ... This could act asa warning to other sellers as long as they read the feedback!

It's also all you can do! There is no provision for marking out the bad buyers thanks to ebay rules!

I would have preferred to resell the item to someone who deserved it - But of course, I was bound by ebay rules to sell to the timewasters!

I take ebay very seriously and work within the rules and with the community spirit. I give honest feedback and always take circumstances into consideration. communication is the key - If you're a buyer with a problem - Tell the seller! And Vice versa... Birkenstock sandals - Important sizing

If you are considering buying a pair of Birkenstock sandals ... stop, you should consider 2 things before buying. These are very generously sized and in fact most people in the UK are fittedbetween 1 and 2 sizes smaller than they normally buy. If youdo buy your normal size in these shoes they will flop around your feet and be quite unbearable, you should go and try on a pair and get them measured properly before impulse buying, once you have the correct sizing go ahead and buy them online. However there is also another important consideration and this will save you a lot of wasted money; buying 2nd hand (previously worn) Birkenstocks is NOT the best idea, these sandals mould to the wearers feet (ask anyone with a pair to show you the insides and you will see what I mean). So when you buy a previously worn pair the chances are that they will not mould to the shape of your own foot.

I own several pairs of Birkenstocks, I normally wear a roomy size 7 and all my Birkenstocks are size 5, fit wonderfully and are a real joy to wear. I hope to save people the expense of buyng a pair of shoes before considering all the facts - hope it helps.

Compaq Armada E500 CMOS Battery Location Replacement

We are asked on occation where the location of cmos batteries are kept in respect to internal integration. While having serviced various brands and models some models are with ease while others do require professional skilled technicians on the know. This guide serves the purpose of cmos backup battery location for Compaq Armada E500 notebooks. We advice that people will entrust their notebooks with skilled technicians, though understand that in some cases that might not be feasible possible. Step # 1 Remove the keyboard in the same fashion as if you need to access the memory dimm banks. Remove the Keyboard by releasing the latches or locks on the keyboard that keep the keyboard fasten to the notebook. Step #2 Locate and remove the two screws found on the backside spline or hinge cover. The two screws that fasten the hinge cover are located on the back side of the Compaq Armada E500 where the port replicator, external HD15 video port, Serial port and parallel port are located. The photo supplied below is one of two identical screws that must be removed in order to remove the small hinge cover as well as the Power LED display Cover that encompasses the Left hand side hinge cover. Step # 3 After removing both hinge cover screws, lift the right hinge cover (small cover not the LED Power Cover with built in Hinge cover). Doing so, will allow you to lift the LED Power Display Cover, applying pressure and then to remove the LED Power Display Cover as shown.Step # 4 Once the LED Power Display cover has been removed you will find the LCD Inverter in the middle adjacent to the LCD display. Located on it's left hand side you can see the small connector that pertains to the Cmos Battery. Follow the leads and note the Cmos battery. The Original E500 cmos will be Orange in color as that is a Sanyo CR2016 Lithium Coin Cell with wires attached to it. Reference the subsequent photo:Indew Auctions

OVER INFLATED POSTAGE

hi welcome to another little scam on ebay if you find it useful just click the yes button.

here we se sellers over inflating postal charges to boost the total price of an item.

everyone adds a small fee to the postage to cover obviously the price of the stamp, the cost of the packaging, the sellers time used to wrap the item and take it to the post office and some even add 50p or so to help cover ebay and paypal fees, but the ones that stand out from the crowd are the ones that charge seven or eight pounds or more for something they just stick a 1st class or even 2nd class stamp on and think they are doing everyone a favour.

these sellers should be avoided at all costs and in my eyes should be banned from selling on ebay altogether, if you work it out you are paying for the sellers listing fees , final value fees, paypal fees , postage costs and still leaving them with a tidy little excess profit.

(dick turpin wore a mask these sellers hide behind a computer screen)

its your risk if you want to be ripped off. me i just look for another seller who dont rip me off.

thanks for reading

WARNING-WEDDING DRESSES FROM THE MIDDLE EAST

I recently bought a dress from linglingfuchu.

The dress which was advertised was a stunning wedding dress. The picture was spectacular. The advertismentpromised a beautifully made quality wedding dress at a great price with a promise of "100% refund guaranteed if not satisfied". The dress had a buy it now price of 9.98. Seems attractive hey? The catch being it costs 60.00 in postage and |9.00 insurance costs. The dress cost less than 7.00 to get to the UK in postage costs. I checked upon receiving the package.

I wasshocked when I opened the package to find a dress that lookied nothing like the picture and was in fact, a very cheap imitation. Bearing in mind I have forked out 80.00, the dress looked like it had cost 15 to make that based on the material alone.

The dress was cut very wonky. One side was an inch lower than the other. Around the back on the dress was 2 inches higher under one armpit than the other.

The corset part at the back was1 inch off centre.

The dress was marked and dirty.

The hemming at the bottom was completely wonky. In fact, cut so badly it was unwearable.

The stitching was coming undone. The hemming stitching had been overlapped into the actual showing part at the front of the dress.

The beading was actually falling off the dress because it had been stitched on so badly.

I contacted the seller who told me because I had not reported problems with 72 hours of paying for the dress he would not help, replaceor refundin any manner. What a joke considering the dress took 168 hours to reach me after paying for the dress. How can I report a faulty item when I do not even have the dress in 72 hours????

In the end I am having to make a claim through paypal. This is still ongoing and may take a month before I know if I am eligible for the claim.

I am writing this for the benefit of other women like myself who may be considering buying a dress like I did. Although I did get well and truly ripped off by linglingfuchu and not only taken in by all his lies on the advertisementit has at least taught me the lesson not to make the same mistake twice.

It's just not worth taking the risk to throw about a total of 80.00 down the pan. It's not as if I can even do anything with the dress. It really is that bad.

Where does my Wool Roving come from?

We all know that our wool roving comes from an animal, but what processes does it go through before it gets to me?Greasy fleece is the term for wool that has just been shorn from the sheep. The next process is called scouring during which the fleece is washed to remove dirt and excess oils from the fibre. (Did you know that the oil from the fibre is called Lanolin and is used in some soaps and cosmetics?)The fleece should now be almost ready, all that it needs to be brushed into a length of useable roving (wool tops). This process is called carding. The wool is passed through a carding machine, which untwists and untangles the fibres into one long, smooth length of roving. This process can be performed by hand at home but does take a long time. The finished roving is also known by the name carded sliver and is perfect for dying, spinning and felting.-------------------This article is part of myWorking with Felt newsletter.

Misleading Tackle descriptions

Hi guys, just wanted to make sure that everybody is aware of what a reel description should mean exactly and if it doesnt it doesnt meet trade description or sale of goods act. The reason I am writing this is that I am fed up with seeing items mis described and adversely effecting my sales. Ebay doesnt do anything about it, so it can only be up to you the consumer.

New in Box = Should mean, BRAND SPANKING NEW, Straightfrom manufacturer, for either sale or resale, it shouldnt mean, bought and never used, bought used and shoved back in the box, cleaned and resold.

New without box = Same as above, genuine cases would be combo items , i.e separated from the rod, sometimes there would be marks on the plate where the reel has attached, but that should be it.

New returned sales stock, factory reconditioned, factory restock. = should be a virtually perfect reel, if the reel is from the PURE FISHING or DAIWA stable, should be in either Factory box or New box. IF it isnt question whether its what its described to be. Also should come with warranty. This is not a reel that just looks good, it comes with box, sometimes tools and lube as it would have when originally for sale. THESE SHOULD NOT BE RETURNS!!!!!

Reconditioned = Usually returned stock to seller, if not in a box I would guess that these are what they are , do not accept this as a factory (manufacturer reconditioned item) if it was it should be in Factory box, i.e ABU puts them in the white boxes, they are serviced, any part that is broken or unpleasing replaced, bad sellers out there see this asanother way of somebody saying looks okay, functions great so lets try and sting somebody for a higher amount. Dont get me wrong, these can be great bargains, but if somebody says, Virtually New, as NEW , new NEVER FISHED, but no box, no warranty, use your brain , its second hand, used, a return. If is was New NEVER FISHED and was an ex display model, or unsold sales stock it would come in either original packaging, or factory packaging, have a limited warranty.

2nd hand or used = should be exactly as stated. However you will be surprised about just how many reels that should fall into this category on Ebay that shouldnt be.

Hope this helps.

Wedding dresses from Seller asapbay -Highly recommended

I had my wedding dress and bridesmaid dresses made by Landy P selling as user ID asapbay.
I can't recommend her enough, her dresses are fantastic and if there is any problem she is more than happy to oblige.
My dress cost a total of 114 and my Bridesmaid's dress, I had changed slightly to match my Bridal Gown at no extra cost. It was only 86. Fabulous! It was very well made and excellent quality material. If you are not sure of the colour samples, ask her to pick out the ones you like and take a larger photo of them to email to you.
Take your measurements on the generous side, add an extra inch because the dresses were neat. Luckily we had both lost a little weight before the big day.

I read lots of her feedback first and did my homework. My dress looked like it was worth hundreds of pounds and I had so many people ask where I got it from.

Good Luck!

Fake Paul Smith Signature Stripe Shirts

Well here is another of my guides and this time its on Paul Smiths famous signature stripe shirt. You see lots of these on here but which are genuine?? Hmmmmmmmm well very few are actually, but there is one excellent tip for seeing which is real and which is fake..............FAKE! - do you know why??? Well its simple, the fake shirts have white buttons, the real ones have black! So watch for this.................Also the sleeve button holes should be big enough to wear cufflinks and the collars should come with 'bones' that you can keep in or remove.Any questions please ask.................**check my other PS guides!**

buying cheap ugg boots

i recently brought a pair off ugg boot off ebay for 58 pounds and noticed afterwards all these guides on fake uggs saying if there less than 100 then they are probably not genuine decker uggs.when thet arrived i was sceptical to say least so i asked my sister to bring round her that she brought from a well known designer shop for 130 pounds.i looked at them both as did my partner and sister and there is no difference what so ever even the small lable inside was identical. i even went through the ebay guide to spotting a fake and found nothing to suggest they are not geniune.the seller also accept returnsif not satified so all i can say is some sellers are genuine but email then prior to bidding asking the question are they made by deckers as genuine uggs are.hopes this helpsomeone wanting a nice product but doesnt want to pay the earth.thanks (i purchased mine from sj products)

FAKE HANDBAG GUIDE - Easily spot ANY fake

To most people, fake handbags are hard to spot, but there are certain easy signs which SCREAM out 'fake'. Not all of these are just contained in the listing. This quide will help you spot high end designer fakes i.e. bags with an RRP of a few hundred pounds. There are lots of guides that tell you specific things to spot for certain types of bags, but rather than pore over tiny details, this guide will help you quickly elimate the obvious fakes. I've seen almost perfact fakes being manufactured and some of the information contained in the majority of these detail by detail guides is purely circumstantial.1. PLASTIC PACKAGING99% of designer bags do not have any plastic packaging on the handles - instead they have canvas or fabric dust bags to keep them safe. If you spot plastic wrapping on a handbag, steer clear. This also applies to the bits 'n' bobs i.e. buckles being wrapped in tissue paper - this doesn't happen. 2. SELLERS OTHER ITEMS AND REPUTATIONCheck out what other items the seller is listing, and have a quick look at their feedback to see the kind of things they have sold. If for example they have a history of selling cheap or mid range textiles and items, and then suddenly theres an 800 louis vuitton bag, how realistic is this? Stay clear away. Most people who own designer handbags and want to get rid of them will usually have other high priced items for sale, or have a history of selling high priced items. However, if they have a too many of the same item i.e. 3 identical bags, they are almost definately fake as fashion houses restrict the amount of items for sale to prevent mass resale.3. ORIGINAL PACKAGINGMost sellers should have the original packaging - i keep EVERYTHING; the dust covers, the boxes, even the reciepts so that i can get repairs
done. This packaging is used to keep the bags in perfect condition when it's being stored in the shops, and
i can't think of anything better to store my beloved bags in. If they
don't have this, then i'd be suspicious.4. STUPID STARTING PRICEIf the price seems to good to be true, it always is. Although a lot of sellers list very low starting prices, a starting price of 15 or so, especially with no reserve, for a bag worth 650 is ridiculous. Don't bid!5. PHOTOSLots of sellers grab photos from websites. ALWAYS look for original photos of the item i.e. not shot in a studio. If they don't have them, ask for an email. When they email you the photos, cross reference these with other items on ebay. Lots of sellers use stolen photos to guarantee authenticity, and to hide poor quality fakes.6. DO YOUR HOMEWORKBother to check if the item actually exists. I've seen auctions for Louis Vuitton bags that don't exist. If in doubt, check out the website or search for the model name on the internet. If nothing comes up, it is a completely made up design. Also i've noticed colours of bags turning up that were never manufactured. ----------------------------

Adobe CS3 Sealed Fakes - BEWARE!

Hi,

I was looking to upgrade my CS2 to CS3, and found some cheap sealed "originals" on eBay. Or so I thought... I bought one and found out it was a fakefrom Hong Kong. It's hard to spot, but the main evidence is as follows:

The inner packaging is really soft cardboard - same colour and quality of a toilet roll tube!

The clear plastic around the DVD case is really poor quality and looks loose.

Despite having a product key for installation, the installed program will not complete updates.

The manual has really poor quality pixilated black and white pictures inside - screenshots etc.

After installation it will say CS3 extended on the menu bar at the top, not CS3 which is on the front cover of the box.

Furthermore, if you're still not sure of the authenticity, then you cangive Adobe a call and ask them to verify the license number. (the long number on the back of the DVD case)

Happy and safe eBaying!

UNABLE TO LEAVE NEGATIVE FEEDBACK FOR NON PAYMENT REC'D

Hi,

I have had to close a non payment dispute due toa buyer not paying foran item. I have had to wait nearly a month with no payment. I have gone through the disputeconsole as suggestedby ebay. I would now like to leave a negative feedback for this buyer to warn other members of the ebay community as they never paid and just left poor excuses.

However, when trying to do this, it stated that I can not leave neutral or negative feedback so that it protects the buyer. This is not protecting me the seller or indeed any other seller out there. It basically means that people can buy an item on auction, then decide not to go through with the transaction and have no fear of recieving a negative feedback. This cant be right???? can it.

A Guide To Set Starview Keys Manually

How To Insert Keys In TheStarview Cable Boxes.Starview boxes are extremely popular on eBay and have been around for a number of years. Many different types of cable boxes have been available on ebay also these vary from the starview to eurovox, nokia dbox and the Box. By far starview has been the most popular since these cable boxes require some technical know how in setting up and configuring. However the Starview box has been far the cheapest of the cable boxes and its no brainer set up has by far made it the most easiest to set up and get going. However the Starview box is not without it problems and issues. Cloned starview boxes have been a problem when it comes to updating to the latest software, and suppliers of genuine starview box do not take this issue lightly and will only distribute software for genuine starview boxes. The main function of the software is to update the keys that descramble channels on the box. Here is a simple guide to update keys on the starview box when you do not have the latest software installed or you need to at least insert the keys once to make the starview box update everytime thereafter.1) Press Menu on the Starview box remote.2) Key in 1570 on the remote, this should takes you to a secret menu
3) From the option available press OK on nagravision option.4) Moving from left to right select your local region.5) Now just change the keys for 00 and 01.6) You must save the keys for each number on the starview box i.e. save the keys for 00 and then insert the keys for 01.
and change both keys 00, and key 0.7) Exit this menu on the starview box and on the previous menu you would make sure the EMU is on.This should update the Starview box and it should work fine. Please note that this guide for the Starview box is for educational and information purposes only.

How to avoid Chargeback/Reversals when selling vouchers

How to avoid Paypal chargebacks / reversals when selling electronic vouchers.

I have recently become yet another seller to fall foul of a Paypal chargeback from the sale of an electronic voucher. I've sold 7 or 8 vouchers successfully in the past. (1 of which sold for more than face value) So I started to think that "selling e-vouchers always results in a chargeback" was one of those misconceptions. But I've just been struck by one.

The trouble is that in order to get Paypal Seller protection, you have to fulfill various requirements these include, amongst others;

i) Post to the address on the Transaction Details page (It used to be "the confirmed address" but this hasbeen changed.)

ii) Retain reasonable proof-of postage that can be tracked online. (proof of postage is enough for claims of "un-authorised funds" claims, but for "non-receipt of goods" you need proof of delivery.)

iii) Send tangible goods.

Of course emailing an electronic voucher fails all 3.

One way of getting around this is by printing a copy of the voucher and putting it in the post. This way you fulfill all 3 of the above.

For the price of a 1st class stamp (proof of postage is free from post offices) you get protection from a possible chargeback, and the loss of 's. This is a small price to pay for piece of mind. And when selling high value voucher 1.08 for recorded delivery seems like a worthwhile investment.

Most fraudsters are opportunists, just by saying in the advert that you'll in be posting the code / voucher via royal mail, will probably be enough to put off most. Legitimate buyers won't mind waiting a day or two to receive a letter.

CHECK THEIR FEEDBACK BEFORE SENDING THE ITEM.This sounds obvious, but as I regularly sell items in eBay I became a little laid back about it. If I had checked their feedback I would have seen that the buyer had brought 20 electronic vouchers over the past week, totalling more than 400.

I hope this guide has been helpful (and will protect other sellers from fraudsters!)

BULGARIAN-HOMES selling Derelict Property to UK eBayers

This guide is intended to inform and advise ebayers of my experience of buying Bulgarian property through bulgarian-homes My first piece of advice is BEWARE! My first mistake was trusting that the seller, orsellers in this case, was honest in his description of the property. Not So. Then paying up front beforeI could view the house, foolishly thinking that the sellers Positive Feedback was good enough reason to trust them.Wrong Again.

Here is how pretty pictures and nice words are used to deceive.

it is built from stone and bricks, very solid foundations, outside rendered, well preserved double windows, the house is stable and strong, the walls are vertical and upright with no damage. they are rendered which is in great condition.
In reality, the rear wall had a crack in it from top to bottom and the windows and doors are beyond salvage after the property has been left for so long.
you can see that the roof is in perfect condition, straight and the tiles have not slipped, therefore, there wil be no water ingress into the house.
Wrong. Looking through the loft access hatch you can see daylight through the tiles.
the gate where your cars get into the property, on the other side there is space for two cars.
Yes but it is a pity that there's only pedestrian access to the property through a narrow overgrown footpath and there is no STREET as indicated on the plans. the nearest Tarmac is about half a kilometre away.
Three bedroom and a storage place, god size for showerrom seen below they are in very good order need only painting.
This is the best bit. All electrical and pipe work have been stripped from the walls by undesirables. The floors were made of mud and had holes in them. There was plaster missing from walls. The fireplace / oven had detached itself from the wall and you could happily watch the wildlife outside through the gaps in the wall either side of it. Quite a concern was the internal wall that had come away from the external wall from top to bottom by some 3 to 4 inch that you could put your hand through the gap.
of course the house has electricity and mains water.
Oh no it doesn't. Not even a Meter

When I protested that the house did not match the description in the listing, I was told thatI could sell it again and Kiril, the Bulgarian end of this Dynamic Duo, said that if I paid himhe would fill the gaps with plasterand repaint thehouse. But first I had to leave them Positive Feedback before my money was refunded.

When I asked to see some alternative properties as an alternative to this purchase I was shown more. Great, I found one I liked and enquired about the price. After much pretend haggling with the owner Kiril told me that she was not going the drop the price below 6000, . Fine that is 4705.00 at theexchange rateon the day. Too bad when I checkedtheir listing

OVERPRICED NEXT BABY/TODDLERS CLOTHING

While browsing childrens Next clothing on Ebay I noticed that some of the items are highly Overpriced ! And a a lots of people doesn`t actually realised how much Next clothing cost.

A simple Next long sleeved top age 0-3m , 3-6m ,6-9m ,9-12m , 12-18m and 18-24m would cost approx. 4 Brand new with tags .Now I`ve seen them going for about 7 or more ( usual Ebay buy it now price would be 7.50 postage ) !

I can`t believe sellers are listing Next clothing worth 4 brand new in shop for a 7.50 or more postage ?!

I`m sure most of people havea local Next store so I cannot believe sellers can get away with overcharging !

If you are unusure how much the item costs go to your local Next store and pick up a free cataloque or simply go online to next.co.uk and check the prices

With optional Next personal account you can spread the costs of your shopping and the interest is extremly low comparing to other Home shopping cataloques and there is no addministarion fee for late payment ( in any other Home shopping cat it would be 12 )

Go and treat your little one(s) but please do not overpaid !

Yamaha were a musical instrument manufacturer that had been founded in 1887 but diversified into motor cycle manufacture in 1955. Their first machine, the YA1 was a 125cc two-stroke based closely on the pre-war DKW RT125. It was soon followed by 175 and 250cc models. It was soon followed by 175 and 250cc models. By 1960, Yamaha were exporting to the US and developing specialized racing bikes. By the end of the 1960s, five World Championships had been won by riders using Yamaha machines. This guide celebrates six classic Yamaha models.

Classic Rally Cars 1980s - Ford, Lancia, MG Metro, Audi

Classic Rally Cars 1980s

This is one of many illustrated classic car guides I've created for the community. I hope you enjoy it. If you wish to find out more about the classic rally car art featured in this guide please click here.

This guide covers the Group B years of international rallying between 1983-86. Under new regulations, engineers went mad with turbo power and lightweight construction, resulting in some of the most extravagant and exciting cars ever seen on public roads. Cars soon became too dangerous however, with the toll of death and injury becoming intolerable. Group B was baned and rally cars were to be built to a much safer and restricted specification.

Peugeot 205 T16

The 205 T16, Peugeot's entry in the Group B rally category of the mid-1980s, followed the shape of the production 205 for marketing purposes, and although 200 road cars were produced for homologation, the T16 was in reality an out-and-out four-wheel-drive, mid engined, turbocharged rally supercar. In 1985 and 1986 the model brought Peugeot the manufacturers' title in the World Rally Championship, while Timo Salonen and Juha Kankkunen took the drivers' crown.

Audi Quattro Sport

Audi's original Quattro of 1980 had been a great success, but to keep ahead of the competition their revised Sport Quattro was introduced in 1983. Lighter, shorter and more powerful, it helped Hannu Mikkola to the World Championship in 1983, Audi coming narrowly second to Lancia in the Constructors' Championship. In 1984 Audi made no mistake and their Quattro won both titles.

MG Metro 6R4

TheM.G. Metro 6R4 was Austin-Rover's Group B car project. The Specification included four-wheel-drive and a 410bhp engine, but at world level it was not competitive against Lancias and Peugeots of the day.

Lancia Rally 037

Lancia's Rally 037 was the ultimate rear-drive rally car, with a water-injected supercharged four-cylinder 1995cc twin-cam producing 305bhp, mid-mounted in a tubular and sheet-steel chassis. It was the first purpose-built Group B car to enter World Championship Rallying and comfortably won the World Championship in 1983, winning five times.

Lancia Delta S4

Lancia's no-holds-barred Group B Supercar, with four-wheel-drive and mid-mounted turbo-supercharged engine, producing between 450 and 500bhp. Henri Toivonen gave the model its "works" debut on the 1985 Lombard-RAC Rally, where he won outright. Tragically Toivonen was killed while driving the S4 on the Tour de Corse, an accident that led to the banning of the Group B cars.

Ford RS200

Conceived in 1983 and launched in 1984, Ford's RS 200 was a mid-engined, four-wheel-drive, Group B supercar, of which exactly 200 were built. Homologated in 1986, the RS200 started only two World Championship events before FISA announced that Group B was to be cancelled. The RS200 went on to become the world's best rallycross car.

Suzuki Motorcycle - GS750 RE5 GT550 GT750 T500 T20

Suzuki Motorcycles

This is one of many illustrated classic motorcycle guides I've created for the community. I hope you enjoy it. If you wish to find out more about the classic Suzuki motorcycle art featured in this guide please click here.

An established manufacturer of weaving machinery, Suzuki's first move into the motor cycle industry was in 1952, with the development of a 36cc two-stroke engine called the Power Free which clipped to a bicycle frame. Adequate performance and reliability combined with the demand for cheap transportation in post-war Japan made it a success. In 1954 the company changed its name to Suzuki Motor Company Limited and produced its first complete motorcycle, the Colleda.

The Chinese Guitar Affair!!!

So I got duped! Or did I?I ordered a Les Paul Custom from one of these Chinese manufacturers. First thing I did was take it down to the local music store, who stocks many different gibson guitars.

Now first off I fooled these guys right out of the gate with it's appearance. Then I told them where i got it and we started "pickin' apart" the difference.

Before I go further I want to note that I personally don't agree with "stealing" another companies namesake. Gibson spent many years to obtain a reputation and a name and IT BELONGS TO THEM, NOT A MANUFACTURER IN ANY COUNTRY.

So now from a consumer point of few. At least the guitar I received absolutely smoked the real deal. Finish was better. Inlay was better. Action and intonation was a little out, easily fixed. Electronics and hardware are garbage.

So for about 300.00 more down at the music store (new pots, pickups, hardware, etc.), added to the cost of the chinese model, I'm into a fake les paul about $600.00. And yes, I am happy with it.

If I would havebought the real thing for $2200, I think I'd be upset. Why you ask?In the last 15 years or so, "collectors" of things have pickedon the guitars. (no pun intended). What use to be affordable to musicians is now onlyfor the high roller. For instance I bought a 1974 strat in 1994; paid $250.00 which was reasonable because honestly the guitar wasn't very nice.A sunburst plank with a neck bolted on, and some pickups. I sold this guitar in 2004 for $3000.00. This guitar was worth about $250.00. That's it. Someone needed it for the "collection" on the wall. Never to be played again I assume.

Back on topic.... Maybe Gibson, PRS, and Fender need to look at there pricing structure and stop with their "price-fixing" on the instrument market. It is America, free to charge what you want. That works when you are the only player in the game. Here comes China, The have similar technologies and an eager work force. As far as I'm concerned they do it better.

I think that anyone selling one of these items on ebay as the real deal should be banned from ebay. I searched gibson les paul custom and quite honestly these were the only guitars in there. All by private owners trying to make a quick buck.

HERE IS HOW YOU CAN SPOT THE FAKES....

1st. The dead giveaway is the serial number and the "made in usa" stamping. The fake model is REALLY GOOD. Gibson's is very sloppy.

2nd These fakes are cica 1992-1994. Even if they duplicate the new custom finishes, The logo's etc. are old.

3rd the binding and the inlay work is much better than the stuff Gibson is doing. ( this was my first test). Get you hands on a real paul and you can feel the binding is inset a fraction of an inch inside the body. I'm a wood-woorker by trade and still haven't figured out why gibson hasn't remedied this. To me it's sloppy.

To summarize..... Should you buy one of these for personal use? I say yes. Should you buy ten and dupe people on the internet? ABSOLUTELY NOT.

Now before everyone on the forum "burns me over the coals" for my comments keep in mind one thing. The computer (and the screen) your reading this on.... The television your going to watch later after you heat something up in the microwave. Don't forget to get a drink from the refrigorater. Take a guess where these things come from.

FINAL NOTE: Where do you suppose gibson, prs, fender, etc get the internal electronic parts for their guitars??? hmmmmmmmmm.......??

BUYING A HD TV? HD DVD/BLU-RAY?

hello, dont be fooled when buying a hd tv or dvd you must look out as there are 100s of retailers that

wont explain the truth about high definition.

ok let me start hd has different formats

for example when buying a dvd player you can choose to have blu-ray or hddvd

but when it comes to buying a tv things get a bit more difficult than that

ok there are hd ready tv's ?

and now hd1080p tv's

to get the most out of the high definition experience you will need a full hd1080p tv

not a tv with the hd ready logo a tv of this kind can only give you a max resolution of 720/1080i

i stands for interlaced

p stands for progressive

but wait dont think for a minute that you can watch tv at 1080p through an aerial or freeview

you will need a device such as a blu ray player/ps3 to have connected to your full hd1080p tv to get the full results

one thing to look out for is cheap dvd players that offer a hdmi connection for hd this is not true

all this does is enables you to plug into the hdmi connection of your tv, you will not be able to play hd dvd's just standard dvd's that are upscaled to 720i or 1080i

so if your thinking of going HD then remember to get a true hd tv it must be printed on the tv "1080p"

if it does not then it isnt

if your buying a dvd it must say "hddvd or blu ray" not upto 1080i

if you have any questions please ask dont be ripped off if its hd your after then thats what you sould get

you pay for it therefore you get the service and product you ask for

How long will my duvets and pillows last?

If proper care is given to duvets and pillows the rule of thumb is 5-10 years for synthetics and 10-15 years for naturals. Pillows tend not to last as long because they are subject to more wear and tear than duvets as you sleep on the pillow and under the duvet, therefore this would apply to feather beds also. Proper care would involve the following:

Regular airing of duvets (new duvets for 24 hours before use)
Shake the duvet now and again to fill it with air and maximise its loft
Fluff the pillow every now and then to maximise loft
Use a duvet cover to protect the duvet
Do not wash on a regular basis as the duvet cover acts as protection. Local soiling should be hand washed and more serious soiling to beaddressed in large commercial machines only
Do notdry clean

duvetdog is wrong - Zeppelin ticket guide

Despite what Duvetdog reports, there is no blanket ban on tickets and/or passcodes for the O2 led Zeppelin concert. In cases where a person has purchased a passcode from eBay (or indeed just been given it) and they have then purchased the tickets in their own name (not the code winner) the tickets will be honoured if the purchaser attends in person to collect the tickets, producing the purchasing card and photo id. Guidance issued last Thursday (18/10) byTicketmaster UK (on instructions from Harvey Goldsmith's office) and also passed to the O2 staff, state this clearly, and state that such tickets "will be validated" if the code was one initailly issued on Oct. 1st. The code winner's name and the purchaser's name do not have to match. This is confirmed by all three organisations. Purchasers are being advised to bring the above proofs of purchase, plus a copy of the confirmation email from Ticketmaster, when they attend the O2 to collect the tickets and wristbands. A quick look at the recent entries on Harvey Goldsmith's own blog will confirm this information.

However, if the ballot code was won in the second round of the ballot (i.e. on or after 23rd. october) then the original code-winner has to be the same person as the purchaser. Here is Ticketmaster's full confirmation of the above :

Dear Ticketmaster Customer,

As a result of an injury sustained by one of the band members, the Ahmet Ertegun Tribute Concert featuring Led Zeppelin at The O2 Arena, planned for 26 November has been rescheduled to 10 December 2007.

The original tickets remain valid for the new date, subject to the terms and conditions issued with the passcodes used to buy the tickets.Original purchasers must collect tickets in person prior to the event and produce valid ID that matches the name on the credit card used for the purchase and for passcodes issued on or after 23 October, the ID must match the name against which the passcode is registered as well. Please see the promoters' terms and conditions issued with your passcode for further details. The tickets are non-transferable and are for the personal use of the original purchaser only.

If the original purchaser is unable to attend the rescheduled date, a full refund of the face value of the ticket (125 per ticket), together with all applicable Ticketmaster booking fees, will be provided. If you are unable to attend the rescheduled date, please contact Ticketmaster Customer Services on 08444 999 999before 12:00 noon (UK time) on Wednesday 14 November 2007 in order to claim a refund. All refunds will be processed to the credit card used for the original purchase only.

Ticketmaster would like to remind you that, under our standard terms and conditions, tickets purchased from us for this event are for personal use only and may not be resold or offered for resale. We alsoreserve the right to invalidate any tickets that are or have been the subject of any resale or attempted resale.

Please see the FAQs section at[tribute web link - removed by eBay] for the promoters' press release about the rescheduling of this event.

Please accept our sincerest apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Motorcycle helmet guidelines

Ok, firstly, motorcycle helmets age from the date they are firstworn rather than the date of manufacture (so don't buy an ex-display one and expect it's full life to be intact, it will have been tried on many, many times)...many lids are months old by the time they get to the UK, then they may spend several months at a dealers...so if it's a helmet that's 2 years old, it doesn't have 3 years left...it has 5. Only wearing them really begins the ageing process, but common sense would say to be wary of anything that dates back to the mid 90's !!

Adding aftermarket stickers and having them sprayed, is a bad idea...even the best masking could in theory allow some solvent to get to the polystyrene inner, causing it to deteriorate. Stickers can react with the shell bonding agents causing weak spots. Saying that...small stickers can be added to fins as long as they are not a part of the actual shell.

For a good fit, the helmet should not be too tight as it will cause headaches, and not too loose. One trick is to fasten the strap and pull up the back of the helmet, making sure it doesn't pull up too far. A nice even pressure all over is good. A new helmet will bed in somewhat, so a slightly tight helmet is going to be a good fit after a couple of weeks.

Dropping a lid is not the end of the world...unless it's packed with your daily shopping, then the things inside can dint the protective inner. Check it over...light scratches etc are not too much of a worry, although an obvious crack would mean commom sense tells you to replace it. Crashing a lid means it's bin worthy.

Fake PRPS jeans - Other things to look for

In addition to the Guide written on fake PRPS jeans, there are a couple of other things to look for. Behind the MADE IN JAPAN label, there is another label with the Art No and model. REAL FAKEAlso, on the left hand front pocket, internally, the size of the jeans are stamped onto this. There is a big difference between the real and the fake. REAL FAKEThe waist studs are also of a lesser quality. On the back, they look the same, but the real studs have the Word SELEX embossed twice, where the fakes have nothing. REAL FAKEFinally, the label on the back, on the real jeans is made of a soft leather but the fake is made.....well, its isn't leather. Its a plastic type material, but to be honest, this is rather difficult to describe in photos, but the feel of the label will be enough for anyone REAL FAKEFinally, when buying from ebay, check out the persons feedback. If I had 50 pairs of genuine PRPS jeans, retailing at 250 per pair, I wouldn't sell them for 40 on ebay, would you?

Donating to Charity through Mission Fish and eBay

Hi Charitable Donations on eBay, why I chose Chester Zoo , and the amount I wanted to Donate, and how this will benefit something which my Gran and I believe in,Initially when I looked at the process I thought, no that is far too complicated. However this week things changed, two days before my birthday, my Gran passed away :( she had been very very ill, and I wanted something fitting to do. Gran loved wildlife, and animals, flowers, plants and trees and My Shop So, in memory of my Gran, I decided to find a charity which she would approve off, and that was Chester Zoo and more recently the National Gardens SchemeTo set up the charity donation, when listing, just click on add a charity in your sell the item form, or in Turbolister, this will then take you to the list of charities registered with Mission Fish and eBay, from there choose either by charity type - or area and choose a charity. - From April 2008, eBay and the charity promise are linked, registration with Mission Fish is no longer required.Once you have done this, then you fill in a quick form with your bank card details, so if you forget to send your charitable donations at auction end, your card will automatically be debited on the second Monday, also if you are a UK tax Payer, 28p in the 1 additional can be recovered from HMRC!:)The whole process including amending the auction listings to allow a donation took minutes. So, if you are struggling for a present idea this year, or want to make a difference, why not donate just 10% (or more if you want) to a needy cause. There are lots to choose from, Animals, Children in Need, RSPCA etc, and there are lots of local charitable projects listed along with some national options.I hope you found this useful, if you did, please vote yes on the "Did you find this Guide helpful" if you think NO! why not let me know why so I can amend thisHappy eBayingSuz xxPs -Please vote to let me know if you find these interesting - so I know if I should add more! TaPPS - November 2008 has seen the launch of donations at Check Out for buyers on all purchases - what do you think? Please do have a peek atMy Shop

SEIKO Watches - buyers should read this guide first

SEIKO is one of the world's pre-eminent watchmakers and has a global reputation built on over 100 years of quality manufacturing, innovative technology and refined designed.

Because SEIKO watches are technologically advanced and because you need to see, touch and try on your SEIKO before you decide which one is right for you, SEIKO only sells its watches through a network of officially designated and carefully selected retail partners, with premises where you can see the SEIKO collection and receive specialist advice. SEIKO does not seel through internet-only traders who cannot offer one-to-one and face-to-face service.

If you decide to buy a SEIKO watch on ebay or elsewhere on the internet you should check that the seller is one of SEIKO's authorised retail partners in order to be sure that you are getting a genuine and new SEIKO watch that comes with the level of service and support that you would expect from SEIKO. If the seller is not part of our authorised retail partner network it is extremely likely that the watch will be counterfeit, secondhand or damaged. Furthermore it is very likely that any warranty you may be offered will be invalid, as only SEIKO's approved retail partners can offer SEIKO's worldwide warranty. If a seller cannot provide SEIKO's international warranty card, duly completed and dated, the warranty is not valid.

Please note that many unauthorised sellers offer counterfeit warranty cards!

You also need to be aware that on many internet sites, returns procedures do not exist and getting your money back is hardly ever possible.

If you want to know whether a trader is authorised to sell SEIKO please contact one of themany worldwide SEIKO offices, all of which are listed on the SEIKO global website.

A NOTE ABOUT THE SEIKO INTERNATIONAL WARRANTY

Q: If I buy a SEIKO on ebay is the warranty still valid?

A: Probably not.If the watch guarantee card is not fully completed by an authorised SEIKO dealer it is invalid and any repair that may be required will be chargeable. Many sellers say that the watch comes with a valid warranty and thay may be able to offer a warranty card, however, that in itself is not sufficient. {This does not affect any statutory rights that you might have}.

Beware New v1.1.1 Firmware From Factory on iPhones

BEWARE of new iPhones on eBay that have been built week 39 or newer as these have the new firmware of v1.1.1 from the factory, you can check this by the serial number of the iPhone in the format of 7T738XXXXXX 38 being the build week. Please ask your eBay seller the serial number of the one they are advertising. You will not be able to downgrade the baseband firmware to v1.02 on these later ones and therefore your expensive iPhone will be a great doorstop.Eventually all the stock of these earlier ones will disappear, so most coming over to the UK from the States will be the later firmware.Try to buy one that has already been unlocked, therefore you will know for sure that it has correct firmware.

COLLECT EARLY VASELINE,OPALESCENT,MILK,CRANBERRY GLASS

There are two definitions of Vaseline glass. The European definition describes vaseline glass as any kind of creamy yellow glass shading to white, a colouring which resembles vaseline ointment as it used to be. The US definition is any kind of glass which glows under blacklight because it contains uranium or dioxide. This glass can be green or yellow.

During the latter part of the 19th century, glass containing uranium was made with heat sensitive chemicals which turned milky white when reheated, producing a shading effect from yellow to milky white at the edges.

During the early 19th century glass makers in Central Europe started to use uranium as a good way to make yellow and green glass. If you shine a blacklight onto it, you will get a fluorescent green glow. When old European and US makers of glass combined Cranerry, Opalescent or Milk glass, the vaseline glass turned into stunning accent pieces of decorative art.

If you are looking for early vaseline glass, you can usually find figurines, bottles, shades and other items we are offering on our ebay page.

A fake Nokia 8800 Sirocco gold

I recently purchased a phone that was meant to be a Nokia 8800 Sirocco Gold edition. I later realised after taking the phone to several retailers that it was a clever fake.

The areas that were deficient were:-

1. The sound of the phone was inferior

2. The camera on the back of the phone was malaligned.

3. There was no email client on the phone.

4. There was not the standard Brian Eno ringtones.

5. Bluetooth did not work at all properly.

6. The memory allocation was incorrect. About 44MB of memory was said to be free, but the rest of the memory was not accounted for.

7. There was no engraved Nokia Sirocco on the back cover.

8. *#0000# revealed software 3.51, but this software could not be upgrdaded by Carphone warehouse.

When I contacted Nokia, they said the phone came from Singapore.

I spent about 300 for a complete fake. Someone has managed to house inferior components! I was on the look out for a genuine gold Sirocco, but I became too scared that I would get another fake.

tips on rug buying (stable and turnout)

Having kept my eye on ebay for rugs for my herd, I've noticed that the bargins are FAST dissapearing!

Don't buy a dud, its worth investing more in a GOOD rug, not just a cheap one.

Tips!

NEVER buy a turnout rug that has been or needs repair to the main body.No matter how hard you try it will neverbe water/ weatherproof again.
Small repairs needed to stable rugs or the straps of turnout rugs are fine if you are handy with a needle but this should be reflected in the price.
Keep in mind that the older the turnout rug the less weather tight it will be, even if it has been "reproofed".
Horses (like people!) come in many shapes and sizes, try to find a brand that fits your horse rather than taking it for granted that any 6 foot rug will fit.
When taking this into account areas such as neck length (for rugs with a rull neck cover) and chest size as these can vary considerably. One rug may fit sung, but another of the same size could have a larger neckhole and slip back, rubbing the shoulders and or withers.
Measure your horse for a rug as normal (middle of chest to point on flank level with base of tail), then measure for your horse, paying special care to chest width, neck length and the point at the start of the whithers (where the rug would sit) to the base of tail. This means that you can ask the seller to measure these points on the rug to ensure a good fit.

Questions to ask the seller.

How many seasons it has been worn.
Why are they selling.
Has it EVER needed repairing.
If it's not a known make where did they buy it from.
Don't be shy, get them to measure EVERYTHING!!

As always with ebay, check out the postage before making the final bid, a lot of rugs are going for almost full retail if you include postage and thats too much for a two or three year old rug.

Brands I recomend.

Horseware (Rhino, rambo, wug and the economical Amigo tick all the boxes, nothing else goes on my horses backs!)
Masta.
Weatherbeta.

Rugs I wouldn't line the dog bed with.

Requiesit. (They don't even model them with horses waring them, they even look like a bad fit in the CATALOUGE!!)

Try as many rugs as you can, through friends, to find the best style and fit for your horse and keep an eye on the RRP, the whole point of ebay is to find a bargin not pay over the odds!!

Happy hunting!
